Lost Larson (Wicker Park) Introduce
For residents across Illinois seeking a truly artisan baking experience, Lost Larson in the vibrant Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago stands as an unmissable destination. More than just a bakery, Lost Larson is a tribute to European craftsmanship, Scandinavian heritage, and a profound commitment to using high-quality, regionally-sourced grains. Founded by a brother-sister duo, the business is rooted in rediscovering traditional ways of baking—an ethos reflected in every flaky croissant, perfectly spiced bun, and beautifully layered cake.
Lost Larson draws deep inspiration from the Swedish concept of "Fika"—the delightful tradition of pausing for coffee and a sweet treat to savor the moment. This approach transforms a quick stop into a brief, meaningful escape. The Wicker Park location offers a bright, inviting atmosphere, an ideal spot for Illinois locals to partake in this cultural pause. While the bakery is acclaimed for its commitment to classic Scandinavian favorites—such as the Cardamom Bun ($6.00) and the traditional Swedish Princess Cake ($11.00 per slice)—it also showcases a mastery of French pastry techniques, evident in their range of buttery, crisp croissants.
The unique quality of Lost Larson’s baked goods is often attributed to their dedication to fresh ingredients. The owners have committed to stone-milling a portion of their whole grain flours in-house from regional farms. This process, which can sometimes be seen by customers, ensures maximum freshness, flavor complexity, and nutrition. From the massive, delicious Ham & Cheese Croissant ($7.50) praised by customers for its texture, to the delicate Lingonberry Almond Cake ($7.50), every item on the menu offers an elevated experience, justifying its reputation as one of the most celebrated bakeries in the Midwest.
The Wicker Park location of Lost Larson is perfectly situated to serve the local community and visitors from across the Chicago metropolitan area and the wider Illinois region.

For Illinois locals who value an authentic, high-craft food experience, Lost Larson in Wicker Park is unequivocally worth choosing. The difference is palpable, particularly in the density, flavor, and texture of their star items. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Got the ham and cheese croissant. It was HUGE and delicious. The texture leaned a bit crispy over soft. There is both indoor and outdoor seatingThe customer service here is genuinely the best I’ve experienced. 100% am coming back to try more!
September 01 · Bits or BitesAbsolutely loved it!Beautiful interior and all pastries were phenomenal! Highly recommend chocolate hazelnut croissant and almond berry pastry
August 30 · Anastasia DeasyI visited the Lost Larson location in Wicker Park for the first time. I tried a variety of items: a cheddar scone, savory croissant, cookie, almond cake, and blueberry muffin. Overall, everything was pretty good. My favorites were definitely the almond cake and the cookie, they stood out the most in terms of flavor and texture.
June 28 · Minjeong Ryu (Mina)First sip I took, I got straight clumps of bitter matcha. I ordered it with almond milk and vanilla and the drink tasted very artificial. Not worth nearly $10. For feedback, I suggest sifting the matcha powder to eliminate clumps/gritty texture. I’m not sure what brand of milk alternatives + syrups they use, but I recommend using the Califia Farms organic line (good taste + clean ingredients), and maybe making homemade syrups or buy a better tasting brand to avoid tasting so artificial.
May 20 · Malia MurphyMy favorite bakery in the neighborhood! I am impressed that they mill their own flour the traditional method. And their store is super cute.
