★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Visiting the original Magnolia Bakery at 401 Bleecker Street in the West Village is a great experience. The shop has a charming vibe with vintage decor and a cozy atmosphere. Their cupcakes are tasty, but the star is definitely the banana pudding. It’s smooth, rich, and absolutely delicious. They also offer a peanut banana pudding, though it’s not as impressive. Staff were super friendly. Expect long queues, especially on weekends. Parking is nearly impossible, so plan accordingly.
June 03 · Vivek KommareddyYes. Get the banana pudding. It’s so fluffy and delicious. It has that chilliness but not too cold, just the right amount to know that it’s so smooth and light. The banana is not too sweet nor too tough, just blends in with the rest of the pudding. I also got the red velvet cupcake and it was delicious! Staff was friendly and it was busy but it moves quick everything.
July 13 · Giovanni Correa-QuinonesThe original Magnolia Bakery is much smaller than I expected, but it’s packed with charm — and flavor! I had a cupcake that was absolutely delicious — rich, moist, and full of that classic homemade taste. There’s very limited seating right outside the shop, but luckily there’s a park just across the street where you can sit and enjoy your treat. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area and craving something sweet!
June 24 · Jennifer SchorrI LOVE Magnolia and visit every time I’m in NY. This was the original Bleeker St. location and I had hoped it would have the quaint vibe of a neighbourhood shop but it was just too busy (obviously not the store’s fault)! It made for a very rushed, noisy, messy and somewhat stressful experience. Get in, get out, next! The staff were all very friendly and did their best under the circumstances. Once I was out of the shop and standing on the street getting my bearings, I saw a staff member come out and walk across and down the street calling to a customer who had forgotten their drink. I remarked that it was kind of him, and he said he was just doing his job. So 5/5 for their customer service. Also not necessarily the store’s responsibility, but due to the volume of customers and that everything had to be taken to go, the garbage can out front was overflowing with garbage which doesn’t make for a good first impression, and it was all Magnolia boxes and cups. As I say, not their job to empty a city garbage can, but may be worth adding another (of their own) or picking up a little. Still love their baked goods though, and will go back for banana pudding, a vanilla slice and cuppies.
July 08 · Jo A.Magnolia Bakery in NYC is a sweet treat haven! Their caramel cheesecake is especially delicious and a must-try. Located in a great neighborhood, you can grab your goodies and enjoy them in a nearby park for a perfect New York moment.
