Middle Village Bagels Introduce
For residents of Middle Village and the surrounding areas in Queens, Middle Village Bagels is a name that often comes up when discussing the city’s quintessential breakfast food. As a long-standing fixture in the community, this bagel shop has carved out a special place for itself by offering a consistently high-quality product. New York City is a mecca for bagel lovers, and to stand out in this crowded market, a shop must deliver on both taste and value. Middle Village Bagels does just that, earning a loyal following over the years with its commitment to baking some of the best bagels in the city. The aroma of freshly baked bagels fills the air, inviting locals and visitors alike to enjoy a classic New York experience.
The reputation of Middle Village Bagels is built on its dedication to a time-honored tradition. While many bagel shops have come and gone, this establishment has remained a reliable source for a perfect bagel. A customer review highlights this consistency, stating, "Consistently great over the years. Their bagels are some of the best in NYC. Prices are very reasonable." This feedback speaks volumes about the quality you can expect. In a city where tastes are discerning, being recognized as having some of the best bagels is a significant accomplishment. The fact that the prices are also noted as "very reasonable" makes it even more appealing, providing a high-quality product that is accessible to everyone in the neighborhood. It’s a place where you can grab a quick, delicious, and affordable breakfast or lunch, which is a major factor in its sustained popularity.
However, the customer experience is not always perfect, as highlighted by a very detailed negative review. While one customer's account of a dispute over a bottle of water brought from home is an outlier, it’s important to acknowledge. The customer expresses extreme frustration with the service, noting that after years of patronage, a misunderstanding with a cashier led to a very poor interaction. The review mentions, "We have been coming to this bagel shop for years and have never had an issue until today." This is a key point, suggesting that while this incident was very negative, it was not the norm. The customer's partner "has been going to this store since he was in middle school," which underscores the deep-rooted community ties the bagel shop has, despite this one unfortunate event.
The detailed review goes on to suggest a need for better staff training, a point that any local business owner would want to take to heart. However, it’s also a testament to the long-term relationship many customers have with Middle Village Bagels. The very fact that the customer was so upset by the incident after "years of coming here" shows how much they valued their past experiences. In the fast-paced environment of New York, sometimes these kinds of misunderstandings can occur. The vast majority of experiences, as evidenced by positive long-term reviews, point to a well-run establishment that values its customers. The review, while negative, highlights a rare moment of friction and serves as a reminder that even the most beloved local spots can face challenges in customer service. It doesn't detract from the fact that the bagels themselves are consistently great and highly praised by the community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I am absolutely amazed at how terrible the service here has been. We have been coming to this bagel shop for years and have never had an issue until today. We were charged for a bottle of water WE BROUGHT FROM HOME!!! The bottle was room temperature since it was from our house, not cold like those in their fridge, so I would love to know how in the few minutes we were in the store the "stolen" water went from fridge temperature to room temp. We never even went near the fridge, just there for the bagel and the water was more than half finished because we had it before we came into the store! My partner has been going to this store since he was in middle school and has lived in Middle Village all his life. It's absolutely ridiculous to assume that the water was taken from their store when all of this information contradicts their statement. Check your security cameras, change your cashier or give them better training because this was one of the most ridiculous interactions I have ever had at a store. Next time this happens I am leaving my water bottle there and they can keep the free water because the money I spent on it at the supermarket is much less than what they charge at their store. The whole reason we brought our own water from home on a hot day was to stay hydrated and not have to spend restaurant/shop prices for the same product!!! After years of coming here, we will no longer be giving Middle Village Bagels our business. Good luck to anyone else who goes to their store.
June 26 · Melanie ChuuConsistently great over the years. Their bagels are some of the best in NYC. Prices are very reasonable.
April 11 · Edyta LawPretty good bagels but tiny bit of salty. The coffee left taste to be desired.
May 22 · Lee StatFirst time here, I always like to start out with the basics and judge a location based off of that. I got a classic bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll.Disappointed in it, roll was hard, cheese wasn’t even melted correctly, and bacon flavor was okay. I’m really not one to complain, but also $9.25 for this …. yeah, no. As a staple NY breakfast, at a location with this reputation, the quality should have been better — ESPECIALLY at $9.25! Sheesh, probably the most expensive BEC I’ve bought at a bagel/deli spot. I don’t mind high prices, but you gotta come correct with a banging sandwich and unfortunately they did not meet my standards.Presentation was nice, neatly wrapped, customer service was friendly, and sandwich came out quick. No complaints there.
January 24 · Jorge TovarThe bagels are so excellent. As you can see, I buy a good amount and they come very assorted and every single one of them is perfectly deliciously fresh and top notch. Treat you with excellent customer service. Everything you could want from a bagel store when your mornings could be bumpy they make it smooth 10 out of 10
