Miss Madeleine Introduce
Tucked away on a quiet street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Miss Madeleine is a delightful and authentic French bakery that has captured the hearts and palates of New Yorkers. In a city where a great bakery can be found on nearly every corner, Miss Madeleine stands out for its unwavering commitment to quality and tradition. The moment you approach this small, charming establishment, you're greeted by the unmistakable, mouth-watering aroma of freshly baked goods. For many locals, this scent is a powerful invitation to a little slice of Paris right in their own neighborhood. The bakery has earned a reputation for its truly exceptional pastries, with many customers arguing that their croissants are among the best in the entire city. This isn't just a place to grab a coffee and a pastry; it's an experience, a small ritual for those in the know. The line of people often extending from the entrance is a clear testament to its popularity and the high quality of its offerings. Miss Madeleine is the kind of place that feels like a hidden gem, yet is cherished by a loyal following of regulars who appreciate the genuine article. It’s a place where the simple act of enjoying a croissant becomes a moment of pure bliss, a brief escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The bakery’s dedication to traditional French baking techniques is evident in every bite, from the flaky layers of their croissants to the rich, decadent flavor of their other treats. This focus on authenticity is what truly sets it apart in a crowded market. It's a place that understands that sometimes, the simplest things are the most extraordinary. The bakery has become a beloved part of the fabric of the Upper East Side, a reliable source of high-quality baked goods for both everyday indulgences and special occasions. The atmosphere, while small and bustling, is always filled with a sense of happy anticipation, as customers eagerly await their turn to enjoy a little piece of French delight. This bakery is a must-visit for anyone with a love for authentic, expertly crafted pastries and a desire to support a truly special local business that brings a touch of European elegance to the streets of New York City.
Miss Madeleine is conveniently located at 400 E 82nd St, New York, NY 10028. This address places it squarely in a desirable and accessible part of the Upper East Side. The bakery’s location is a key factor in its appeal, as it is situated in a vibrant residential neighborhood. For locals, it's often a short walk from their apartments, making it a perfect spot for a morning coffee run or a weekend treat. The bakery is also just a few blocks from First Avenue, a major transportation corridor. While a bit of a walk, the Q train's 86th Street station is a viable option for those coming from other parts of Manhattan. More conveniently, several bus lines run along First and Second Avenues, making it relatively easy to get to from various parts of the city. One of the highlights of the location is its proximity to the East River. As many regulars know, there is limited seating directly at the bakery, so the common practice is to grab your pastries and take a short walk east to enjoy them while sitting by the river. This creates a charming and unique experience that enhances the entire visit, transforming a simple purchase into a small, pleasant outing. The bakery's spot on 82nd Street also places it near a local farmers market on Saturdays, which further solidifies its role as a neighborhood fixture. The combination of a convenient location for residents and an easy-to-reach spot for a leisurely stroll by the water makes Miss Madeleine an ideal destination for New Yorkers seeking a high-quality, memorable experience. This prime location allows the bakery to be a part of the daily routines and weekend rituals of a wide range of customers, from busy professionals to families enjoying a day out. The accessibility, coupled with the unique bonus of nearby scenic spots, makes it a true neighborhood gem that is both practical and charming.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The line of people standing at the entrance waiting to get into this small establishment and the mouth watering aroma of freshly baked goods that surrounds the store are two unmistakable signs for a great experience: the croissants here are arguably the best in this part of the city. Once you get past the 3 giant teddy bears that guard the entrance, you'll find here a variety of French baked goods. There are only very few places to sit outside (none indoors) so you can grab your little French delight and walk a few blocks east to enjoy it sitting along the bank of the East river.
May 12 · Dvir KoenigsteinI go on Saturdays to a farmers market at 82 street and first avenue. The farmers market has an Amish and green vegetables market.. I like the ones inside gate. If you want no hassle bring your cash. Outside the gate Ms Madeline is a nice welcome for regulars. Is small, two step to the small bakery. Always crowded on Saturdays. I recommend it.
July 06 · Daniel Gomez-AguileraPretty little bakery with awesome madeleines! Nearly as good as the originals. Service is super lovely. Online minus point, no nice place to sit. Will definitely come back.
June 22 · Kim KirchhoffI had the pear/almond tart, it was delicious (see photo). The tart's dominant flavor is not from almonds themselves, but from what seems like almond flavor enhanced dough. On another day I tried their banana bread which has a lot of chocolate chips in it. It was a nice blend of the two flavors making for a pleasing dessert. The blending was such that it was hard to tell which of the two flavors dominated, if either.
September 06 · Harvey MessingThe best thing I can say about Miss Madeleine is that it’s a lovely bakery. I have only been there a few times but everything I bought have been amazing. I loved how they put pictures of people’s pets on their wall. It’s so charming. When I come to a bakery like this, it’s so hard to decide what to get because I want everything. Lol! On my first visit I got a chocolate croissant and a slice of the French style cheesecake. Both were very tasty. Recently I bought a slice of the ham and cheese quiche. I took a taste of it and it was delicious. I intend to come to this bakery on a regular basis.
