What is Worth Choosing
Choosing Origin Bakery in Redmond is choosing a unique, artisan-level dessert experience rooted in cultural passion and dedication to customer delight. For Washington locals, this bakery offers compelling reasons to become a returning customer.
The Perfect Balance of Sweetness and Flavor: The most significant feature worth choosing is the bakery's unique “Asian-style eating” approach, which translates to desserts that are expertly balanced and not overly sweet. This is a major draw for customers who find traditional Western desserts too sugary. The flavor profiles are sophisticated and divine, with subtle contrasts, like the "delightfully subtle bite" of lemon contrasting the buttercream in their lavender lemon cake. This thoughtful layering of flavor is a testament to the artistry put into their work.
Innovation and Artistry as a Standard: Origin Bakery isn't just baking; it is innovating. The introduction of the Crochi—a perfect textural combination of croissant and mochi—is a compelling reason alone to visit. Beyond innovation, their hand-piped floral cakes and cupcakes elevate a simple dessert into a centerpiece event. When you order from Origin Bakery, you are investing in both a phenomenal taste experience and an incredible visual presentation, making it the ideal choice for weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries where the dessert must be memorable.
Supporting a Women-Owned, Inclusive Local Business: By choosing Origin Bakery, Washington customers support a highly dedicated Asian- and women-owned small business that actively promotes an inclusive and safe environment. The commitment of owners Karma and Joey to not only their craft but also their community and customers—exemplified by their willingness to immediately address and fix any rare mistake—instills a high degree of confidence and loyalty. Customers receive a high-quality product and truly exceptional, personalized service, which far exceeds the expectations of a typical bakery experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Don’t even know where to start! Like whoa! The artistry put into these delicious deserts far exceeded any expectations I had. The flavors were divine! They were the perfect amount of sweet and well rounded. The texture of the butter cream frosting had a nice firmness and not chalky that melted in the mouth. The cake had a nice bounce but still moist.I got one cake that was lavender lemon and the other lavender white chocolate. The lemon had a delightfully subtle bite to contrast the sweetness of the butter cream. The white chocolate was very silky. The consultation was in-depth and check ins were made throughout the process.Best bakery, best cake! Definitely be a returning customer.
April 21 · SamUPDATE: 2/24/24Joey and Karma (the owner) immediately contacted me after my review was posted. They apologized for the cake and asked me what they can offer for this mistake. I wanted to give them a chance as I haven’t tasted the REAL GOOD cake as other customers reviewed. Tonight, we tried it and we LOVED it!!!! Karma did extra flower decorations and the cake is soft and it has 3 layers! Each layer with their homemade strawberry jam and not very sweet! The cream too not too sweet and smooth. My husband and my kids are all satisfied! I can see how both of you cherish and tried very best to satisfy your customers! You both listened to us and willing to improve! I love this attitude!P.s. I requested to try their crochi and they are delicious! Again, not too sweet and the texture was great with the crunchy croissant and the chewy mochi! Thx and keep up the good work! We will come back~~~~~******************************************It’s my first time to order a birthday cake for my husband (strawberry cream cake) from Origin bakery but it’s totally disappointed. The cake is hard, texture like SaraLee cake that I need to squeeze the candle hard in the cake! The cake has a eggy smell (not baking at right temp or time) and I’m sure they didn’t add any vanilla extract to help it. The cream is too sweet and have the powder textured after taste. I guess they used icing sugar and it’s not melted and mixed well with the cream….the weirdest cream I’ve ever tasted in my life! Also there are maybe total only 1-2 chopped fresh strawberries inside the cake. None on the top. I guess their pasties are good but avoid any cake! $50 for 6 inch……… not worth….
February 24 · Stephanie LeeOrigin Bakery is impressive with its natural, ethically sourced treats and monthly treat box. With a commitment to quality, it's a must try for exceptional baked goods made with love.We were able to try their June Pride Box and were amazed by the flavors and presentation.(Disclaimer: No, our dog did not eat any of these treats but thought it was a great photo opportunity 🙂).
June 25 · Connie ChoThis review is based on an early pop-up of their tarts at Bobae. I cannot verify that this location is their actual storefront. As a matcha lover, I was excited to try their strawberry matcha tart. While it looked beautiful, I was disappointed that there was no noticeable matcha flavor at all. And at the price of $8 each, I would much rather have one of their matcha drinks instead. I'm reluctant to try one of these tarts again but look forward to seeing how this bakery grows and menu develops.Edit in response to owner: Yes, I agree that everyone has their own taste preferences and I also appreciate differing degrees of matcha. My feedback is that the matcha taste, no matter how subtle it was intended, was imperceptible. I hope that you would value feedback from an early launch on your customers' initial impressions. Thanks for your hard work. I'm a Bobae fan and as I stated, I'll keep following this business and look forward to its development.
February 12 · Jerica HuangOne of the best and delicious cakes ever made!!! If you’re looking for an actual bakery who will listen to you and help your day memorable this is the place you should choose. Even my photographer thought the cake was so cute and fit our anniversary theme.
