Panaderia Paloza has long been a fixture in the Santa Ana community, serving as a neighborhood bakery with a focus on traditional Mexican baked goods, known as pan dulce, and essential savory items.
Located conveniently on East McFadden Avenue, Panaderia Paloza offers a straightforward and authentic experience for those looking to grab a quick treat or a freshly baked roll. The establishment operates as a bakery, offering a variety of pastries and breads that cater to the local appetite, providing a casual option for a quick stop during the busy California workday.
The core of the offering is the bakery selection, though the most highly discussed item among local patrons is not a sweet pastry but a savory sandwich. The pre-made ham tortas (Mexican sandwiches) are often cited as a standout, providing a simple, satisfying meal for those on the go. If you are visiting Panaderia Paloza, the choice should lean heavily toward the items that have generated the most local loyalty. Despite a small selection of pastries and mixed reviews on some items like the pineapple bread, two core offerings define the appeal of this Santa Ana spot.
The most worthwhile choice is undoubtedly the pre-made ham tortas. These savory sandwiches have carved out a reputation for being the primary draw, making the bakery a stop for a satisfying and quick lunch or meal. For anyone seeking a simple, inexpensive, and reliable savory option, the tortas are the consensus favorite.
Additionally, if you are planning to prepare a meal requiring fresh Mexican rolls, the small-sized bolillos are worth picking up. These rolls are a staple for many local dishes and represent the fundamental purpose of a traditional panadería.
It is important for new customers to note the cash-only payment policy before arriving. While some reviews suggest a limited selection or issues with customer service, the enduring success and long operating hours of Panaderia Paloza indicate a strong neighborhood demand for its core offerings, particularly the highly-regarded tortas and classic bolillos, serving a valuable function in the Santa Ana culinary landscape. For a quick, authentic, and budget-friendly taste of a local Mexican bakery staple, Panaderia Paloza is worth a stop—just be sure to have cash in hand.

September 17 · Econo GreenWorkers are very rude. At least the women that have helped me out the few times are mean. The bread is okay. The pineapple breads are nothing but bread, it’s like they slather a single thing of pineapple on and call it a day. So dry. Not worth the time to try or even visit. I recommend the nunos bakery way more.
December 16 · Cacaguey _Grew up coming here and it's always the best pan
August 26 · Alice GamezNo ody in sight as I walked in, did a turn, and left. Nobody. I saw a handwritten sign that explained they did not take card payments, and they didn't have quarters, so the customers need to have exact change. The merchandise was slim pickings, double doors wide open, merch was probably dry I'd imagine but that's not part of the review, mostly the payment method and the ghost town aspect. No self check out so...we need a cashier.
March 14 · Carolina Gutierrez-Calderon (Caro)I found this place on Google maps with a good enough rating. I bought a cake which looked fine from afar however once I got in my car I noticed the strawberries were rotten! I quickly went back for a refund. The girl did not even seem surprised. I do not recommend this place unless you are okay with rotten fruit on your cake and flies on your bread. I noticed a few flies in with the bread as I was leaving. Disgusting!
