★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The food is amazing, creative. The current store interiors are in a transition so nothing to be inspired by. The service is kind of slow, but maybe that’s a good thing. We were there at 9 AM on a Saturday.
May 14 · Noel KuriakosA lovely bakery in D.C. their seasonal passion fruit croffin was a perfect combination. The passion fruit curd tastes great, not too sweet and pinch of sour. The crispy croffin and smooth curd have an exquisite texture, I'll try it again soon.
August 13 · A KDelicious, fresh and creative pastries with an Asian twist. A little pricey but worth it. My husband devoured everything we got. I highly recommend the croissants and kouigg amann.
September 26 · Chrissey Nguyen KlocknerLove this cute little outpost of Saku Saku Flakerie, a delightful bakery serving Japanese-inspired treats based in Tenleytown. Their Cleveland Park location offers the same friendly staff and variety of tasty pastries, featuring incredible flavor combinations like their strawberry lychee rose kouign amann and miso salmon quiche. I love that their menu is constantly rotating so there's always something new to try as the seasons change, and they also have a phenomenal selection of various teas / tea-based lattes as well. I particularly love their hojicha latte, which is often overlooked in favor of their matcha, but I find the earthy, slightly smoky flavor of this roasted green tea absolutely incredible, especially when paired with a tasty treat. The space is quite small so there isn't anywhere to sit, but Saku Saku has a partnership with the bar next door. It's a bit ominous to walk through the empty bar while they're closed, but they have a lovely garden courtyard in the back that is a delightful and super picturesque place to enjoy your pastries.
January 06 · Sonya HuI wanted to love it more than I did. They get points for effort, but will only return for the coffee, which was brilliant! The pastries while imaginative are somehow still lacking. Great flavors and you can tell quality ingredients...for instance the passion fruit curd was great on my kouign amann but don't love sugar crystals on them. I'm used to a buttery, airy, more flaky croissant as well. These felt flat.
