What is Worth Choosing at Tartine West Adams
If you are visiting Tartine West Adams, you are primarily coming for the artistry in their baking, which has garnered national attention. Choosing what to order can be a delightful dilemma, but there are a few items that stand out and represent the best of what the bakery offers. The first and most essential choice is the Country Bread. This naturally leavened loaf is considered the cornerstone of the Tartine brand, and buying a whole or half loaf is a must for any bread connoisseur. Its complexity of flavor and texture—a perfect crust giving way to a custardy, open crumb—is what the bakery is famous for.
For pastries, the non-negotiable choice is the Morning Bun. This is consistently cited as one of the best pastries in Los Angeles, known for its buttery, flaky layers, cinnamon-sugar coating, and hint of orange zest. Another highly praised choice is any of their perfect croissants, particularly the Jamon Fromage Croissant, which elevates the classic French pastry with savory ham and melted Gruyere cheese, described by locals as the best in the city. Customers also rave about the Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie for a sweeter, chewier treat.
On the savory side, the menu, while more limited, is equally high-quality. The selection of Tartines and Sandwiches is perfect for lunch. Specifically, the simple omelette of herbs and sharp cheddar, the seasonal vegetable quiche, and the Egg Sando are excellent and filling options. Finally, to complete the quintessential Tartine experience, pair your selection with a coffee. The Vanilla Iced Latte is a local favorite that provides a perfectly balanced, refreshing counterpoint to the rich baked goods. In essence, choose Tartine West Adams for the promise of consistent quality, friendly service, and a world-class baked good that will elevate your day.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The food and quality of products are consistent across all of Tartine’s locations. This is one of the newer locations, and it is pretty small. There is some outdoor seating area, which has a little bit of shade. comparatively speaking, the Santa Monica location has much better ambience, and I prefer to just do takeout from this one.
April 12 · MahaStopped by Tartine for their sliced country bread and vanilla iced latte. The shop is cute and all of their pastries looked delicious! Only outdoor seating.
June 28 · Jasmyn IsabelIf I could give ZERO stars to this place, I would! The prices they charge for coffee & pastries are outrageous, you'd expect better quality food & customer service.I ordered a $16 quiche (overpriced) & it was clearly refrigerated & cold. When I asked if it could be heated, I was talked down to by one of their staff members saying they don't do that!! Also the coffee was cold. I used to stop by this place on my way to work but I will NO longer be going there. I know people who live in the building above this bakery & they have also complained that the staff is very rude & dismissive of them. Please do not go here, its not worth it!!!
May 24 · F HI was expecting more. Very disappointed. Definitely not enough choices and WAY overpriced. I'm sorry but kissing $7+ Is ridiculous., near me to save price for baguettes, which were so small so hard, and don't even look like baguettes. No pastry choices etc. I turned all the way there I should have saved my gas and money. I was fooled by the French name. Next time I'll do some more research before going. Also the waitress cashier seemed clueless did not understand what I was asking her...Spot is tiny. Not inviting.
April 08 · Sophia BDelish start to our morning at Tarine. We sat on the patio, ordered lattes, a croissant and some sandwiches. Everything was great. The mushroom Reuben was super tasty and I loved the pickled carrot on the side. Would be thrilled to return.
