What is Worth Choosing
Winchell's Donut House in Compton is a local landmark for good reason. What makes it particularly worthwhile to choose this location is its combination of historical significance, product variety, and constant availability. For a classic experience, a customer should definitely try one of the signature Glazed Donuts, perhaps ordering a dozen to take advantage of the 14-donut deal. Many customers frequently highlight their dozen donuts as a favorite item.
However, the menu's true value lies in its savory offerings. The 'Xtreme Melt' line of sandwiches, such as the Hot Turkey Avocado, which features turkey breast, crispy bacon, and fresh avocado with melted Jack cheese, is a standout option for a satisfying meal. The wide selection of made-to-order breakfast sandwiches on a bagel or croissant, including popular choices like the Ham & Cheese on a Croissant or the Bacon & Cheddar Sandwich, offer excellent alternatives to a sugary start. The availability of regional favorites like the Chorizo Sandwich and Ranchero Burrito also speaks to a catering to local tastes.
For coffee enthusiasts, the use of high-grade dark roasted Arabica beans for their brewed coffee ensures a quality foundation for all their hot and iced coffee creations. Whether you are craving a traditional Hot Coffee, a French Vanilla Cappuccino, or a refreshing Iced Coffee, Winchell's provides a great selection to fuel your day. The popular 'Chilla' frozen drinks offer a sweet and cool treat for hot California afternoons.
A note on customer experience: while the business model is designed for continuous freshness, some customer feedback indicates that product freshness can be inconsistent during slower hours, particularly late in the day, with some feeling they received "day old" donuts in the evening. Service, like any local business, can also be a point of variance, with some reports noting pleasant staff while others have expressed dissatisfaction with the service received from specific individuals. As with all high-volume, 24-hour establishments, the best product freshness is often found during the peak morning hours. However, the sheer breadth of product and the unwavering 24-hour availability solidifies Winchell's Donut House as an essential and historic part of the Compton and greater Southern California food landscape.
For a fast, dependable, and historically rich dining experience, this Winchell's location is a great choice for all members of the Compton community.

Winchell's Donut House Reviews
So sorry to say this. This is the 2nd time I've gotten old donuts at this location. This was my go to donut place nearby but the last 2 times, I was disappointed. I came in around 5:30pm on a Tues. I understand it might be a slow day but they tasted like day old donuts. They looked old. I thought, no, maybe it's me being picky. Others I shared them with thought the same. That sucks.
July 23 · M.J ArenasI told one of the ladies I need a minute and she gave me a dirty look and didnt want to help when I was ready, it was short older Latina lady. First time and last time there. She was working on the 24th of July. The other lady was nice and helped a family.
July 27 · Danny CastroWent this morning with my mom and it was a nice surprise... You would think that a donut shop in the middle of Compton would not be as good as it actually was!! From the street it looked dirty due to trash on the road and surrounding area but inside it was real clean and the staff was super nice!! Coffee was hot and the donuts were delicious!! The selection was great too...
April 09 · Anna CuinicheCame by today at 1:24 p.m and there’ wasn’t a single person in line or waiting & the lady helping me out was rushing me through my whole order to a point where I couldn’t look at their variety of hot bagels . When I asked her if she could give me a second she said “well I’m helping you out and I have a lot of work I’m alone I don’t know if you’ve noticed “. I just cut my order short and called it a day . People like that shouldn’t be rushing you especially if there’s no line or anything I just wanted to try something new from their menu . Never coming back to this location again .
April 21 · Stephanie VasquezEvery time I’ve come by the last couple of nights they’re locked up and just staring out into the parking lot. I thought it was a quirk the first time. Weird stuff.
