9th and Hennepin Donuts Introduce
**Introduction / Overview**
9th and Hennepin Donuts is a celebrated destination in the Seattle area, offering an experience that transcends the standard donut shop model. This is not a place for mass-produced sweets; it is a specialty purveyor focused on culinary excellence, creativity, and freshness. Operating primarily out of a kitchen space in West Seattle, with a history rooted in the local farmer's market scene, the shop has garnered a loyal following among Washington residents who appreciate high-quality, inventive baked goods.
The core philosophy of 9th and Hennepin Donuts is rooted in seasonality and freshness. The menu is entirely **rotating and changes every single week**, drawing inspiration from fresh produce sourced from local farmers. They offer a structured variety—usually four types each week, including a raised/filled brioche, a fruit fritter, a cake donut, and a 'wild card' item—ensuring a new adventure with every visit. Critically, these donuts are often described as being made-to-order or very freshly fried, providing a warm, melt-in-your-mouth experience that distinguishes them from competitors. The atmosphere is casual, welcoming a quick visit for either a satisfying breakfast or a decadent dessert.

Available Services Include:
- **In-Store Pick-up:** The main service model for the Delridge Way kitchen location, where customers pick up their online pre-orders during scheduled time slots.

- **Customizable Donut Boxes:** Customers can choose their favorites from the weekly rotating menu to create a personalized box. The popular "One-of-each-Donut" box simplifies the process.
**Features / Highlights**
The shop's highlights stem directly from its chef-driven, quality-first approach to a classic treat, setting a new standard for donuts in Washington.

Past examples include Shiso Glaze, Lime Hominy Cake with Tequila Glaze, and Blackberry & Blueberry Fritters with Kiwiberry Glaze.
- **Culinary Focus:** The flavors are described as "inventive" and "chef-driven," eschewing gimmicky toppings (they do not use sprinkles or Froot Loops) in favor of deep, honest flavor combinations.

**What is Worth Choosing 9th and Hennepin Donuts**
For the Washington donut enthusiast, choosing 9th and Hennepin Donuts is about prioritizing a unique and superior product over sheer volume or everyday convenience.
Firstly, you are choosing a **True Culinary Experience**. The chef-owner's commitment to using seasonal, locally sourced produce and creating inventive, sophisticated flavor combinations means these are not just donuts; they are dessert-quality pastries. By focusing on flavors like raspberry-blackberry jam filled brioche or five spice carrot cake, they offer a depth of flavor that places them in a category above many other shops in the Puget Sound area. This is the place to go when you want a genuinely memorable treat.
Secondly, you are choosing **Uncompromising Freshness**. The philosophy of serving hot, fresh, made-to-order donuts is a game-changer. Customers rave about the fluffy dough that simply "melts in your mouth" because it hasn't been sitting on a shelf. This dedication to serving the product at its peak freshness is what transforms a casual treat into a weekend highlight and justifies the effort of pre-ordering and scheduled pick-up.
Finally, you are choosing **Local, Community-Focused Support**. By tying their weekly menu to what is available at local Washington farmers markets, every donut purchase directly supports the regional agricultural community. For locals in West Seattle and beyond who want to patronize a small business that champions sustainability and local sourcing, 9th and Hennepin Donuts is an ethical and delicious choice that connects you directly to the best seasonal ingredients the state has to offer.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Super fresh, fluffy donuts with new flavors each week! This week I got the filled brioche with Raspberry-Blackberry jam and the donuts just melt in your mouth. (My photos do NOT do thus justice) The donut was perfectly proofed and the jam complemented the vanilla glaze perfectly. I may have to come back tomorrow to get another one!! Check them out!
May 24 · Brianna RamirezWe went to the location in Pike Place and were so glad we stopped by! We tried shiso glaze, five spice carrot cake, and the berry glaze - the flavors were all really unique and tasty!! The dough was also really fluffy and the owner was super nice - thank you!!
August 27 · Alia HidayatThese have become my weekend staple now after moving into the neighborhood. These are the best donuts in the city hands down. The everything box contains 4 donuts - 2 cake donuts, 1 filled brioche and 1 fritter. The flavors are mind-blowing and so unique. They change the flavors weekly. You won’t find such flavors anywhere else. They work out of a commissary kitchen and use local ingredients. It’s pickup only - Friday through Sunday. You can order ahead on the website and set your pick up time. Here’s a little tip: Arrive at the start of your pickup slot time, say 9.15 am for the 9.15-9.25 slot. The donuts are warm and crispy then. And plan to eat them right there - there are a few benches nearby - or in your car. They are made to order and taste the best then. Reheating hasn’t worked well for me. So proud of the what they are doing and feel lucky to be in the neighborhood.
February 01 · Abhash Kumar SinghWhat to say… these are the best donuts I’ve ever had in my life. They are made to order, hot, chewy, with unique flavors that change week over week. Before the truck was consistently parking in Ballard on Sundays I would often make the trek to West Seattle just to get these donuts. They are often the highlight of my weekend, and they are extremely affordable for the quality - I am so grateful to the staff for all of the planning and work that goes into these week over week! The only way to do it is to get all 4 flavors. You won’t regret it!
December 29 · Gillian MaxwellWe’ve started getting donuts every Sunday at Urban Family Brewing. The flavors are incredible and unlike any donut we’ve had before. I don’t know how there isn’t a line around the block!
