All Souls Tortilleria Introduce
Welcome, Vermont neighbors! If you're a local who appreciates fresh, high-quality ingredients and the incredible flavor that comes from traditional craftsmanship, then you absolutely need to know about All Souls Tortilleria. Located right here in Burlington, this isn't just a place to grab a quick bite; it's a dedicated producer of truly authentic corn tortillas and chips, made with a passion for traditional methods and a deep respect for the ingredients. While they might be referred to as a "bakery" in a broader sense, their specialty lies in the ancient art of nixtamalization, transforming simple corn into culinary gold.
All Souls Tortilleria stands out in the Vermont food scene by focusing on a specific, age-old process. Each week, they meticulously simmer whole corn kernels with mineral lime, a process known as nixtamalization. This steeping allows the corn to transform overnight into nixtamal, or hominy. This isn't a shortcut; it's a time-honored technique that enhances the nutritional value and, crucially, the flavor and texture of the corn. Following this, the nixtamal is fresh-ground with volcanic stones into masa, the traditional dough that forms the heart of their delicious tortillas and chips. This commitment to authenticity ensures a product that's leaps and bounds beyond mass-produced alternatives, offering a taste of genuine Mexican culinary tradition right here in Vermont.
You'll find All Souls Tortilleria nestled at 191 N Union St, Burlington, VT 05401, USA. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Bought a bag of Heirloom tortilla chips from Bread& Butter Farm. Honestly they are the best chips I have ever had hands down. I'm not a huge fan of sunflower or canola oil but due to the small batches they make it is totally worth it. The bags are medium sized which I like and SUPER fresh. Way to go Burlington!! Another brilliant business!!
February 23 · Brad SargentI know many people say exaggerated things like; these are the best tortillas. Well I didn't believe that. I've had some from the Mad Taco. A couple different kinds like the organic corn, the white corn, the chips. They really are the best. The location is a little tricky to find but the product is amazing. The people are amazing! Worth the money and the time. I drive about 90 minutes just for my catering gig. Sam Fuller is the nicest and most professional guy I've met there. He met me on his day off to give me the tortillas I forgot to pick up. You rock man!
March 29 · Kyle ArmstrongI never would have known that a tortilla could be such a game-changer. I happened to be in Brandon at Red Clover and went up the street to have burritos at Foley Taco and Bean, who happen to use All Souls flour tortillas. The flavor of these tortillas was unlike anything I've had, so I made it a point to find them locally. They're worth it. I'll make the drive to Healthy Living now to make sure I'm stocked up.
July 29 · Tracy FThese are the best tortillas around! We use them exclusively at our restaurant and always have rave reviews. The attention to detail when it comes to ingredient sourcing is in line with our mission at our farm to table establishment and we’ve had nothing but great experiences with the team at All Souls. Keep up the great work!
April 11 · Caitlin CasertaBest corn tortillas I've ever had! Great taste and they don't immediately fall apart on you. I love that they also sell (excellent) fresh hominy and arepas... hard to find around here!!
