★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I ordered the chicken patty, a coffee with whole milk, and received a complimentary currant pastry. The chicken patty was encased in a dough that was wonderfully buttery, chewy, and flaky, providing a delightful textural experience. The chicken filling was flavorful and well-seasoned, with the chicken chopped into small pieces that made it easy to eat on the go. The complimentary currant pastry was a pleasant surprise, reminiscent of a cinnamon bun with its blend of spices, the sweetness of the currants, and the rich butteriness of the dough. The coffee was decent, nothing extraordinary, but it served its purpose. The service was excellent, with the friendly lady behind the counter adding a personal touch to the experience. The shop itself was charming, with a pleasant ambiance and a nice selection of Caribbean pastries. There was no wait time, and the overall experience was quite positive. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious Caribbean pastries and friendly service.
January 06 · Jack MaguireAllan’s Bakery is Caribbean-centric bakery that serves up a small menu of savory eats, sweet items, breads, and coffee and tea drinks. it’s a small modern bakery store located in the Lower East Side. there’s no real seating in the shop as it’s a compact space, but the interior is well organized, clean, and brightly lit. it seems to be a grab and go spot and it’s located only a couple of blocks from an F train stop.stopped here weeks ago and grabbed a drip coffee to go. coffee was solidly fine as it is via machine. this very much a store selling baked items, not a coffee shop. while the sweet items look good, i went for the savory and got a beef patty and a small bag of baked fried. the beef patty had a soft yet flaky crust—the beef filling is well-seasoned but not spicy. definitely a good small bite when you’re on the go or want something satisfying but not filling. the baked fried is basically small round pieces of fried bread that are slightly salted fluffiness and are rich bc they are fried but not oily. fried bake is typically paired with other savory eats like cheese or eggs or Trinidadian salt fish. to me, they were fine on their own almost like a fried dinner roll as a snack.the service is pleasant and quick. don’t think any baking is done on premises but the food is solidly good and different from your typical offerings around the Lower East Side.
December 06 · Ruwan J.My go to iced coffee & tea spot in the area ! Price is cheap compared to most in the area & the quality is great. They have dairy free milk options & organic agave which is rare to come by , I’ve been to many cafes and this is one of the only ones I’ve been too that offer agave & its organic . The teas are also organic . The little bakes are my favorite & only $2 for 5. 10/10 for quality & price . Store manager is v friendly & nice as well!
January 26 · NathalieIncredibly delicious Caribbean baked goods, with super friendly service. The cod fish patties, cod fish balls, and coconut bakes were all amazing and full of flavor.
October 06 · Bill WangUnreal experience! Pastries are better and cheaper than most I’ve had in nyc. Got the veggie patty, coconut roll and a complimentary currant roll. So so good. AND a taste of some of the smoothies on the house. Service was great and so refreshing for this part of Manhattan 10/10 recommend.
