Angelina Introduce
In the heart of bustling Midtown Manhattan, a piece of Parisian elegance has found a home. **Angelina** is not just a bakery or a dessert shop; it is an institution, a name that evokes images of Belle Époque charm and classic French patisserie. Originating in Paris in 1903, this iconic tea house has been a destination for generations, and its New York location brings that same sophisticated atmosphere and legendary menu to a new audience. For New Yorkers, visiting Angelina is a chance to step away from the city's frantic pace and be transported to a different time and place, an experience that is both a treat for the palate and a feast for the eyes.
The reputation of Angelina is built on its exceptional desserts and, most famously, its rich and velvety hot chocolate. A visitor with a sweet tooth is likely to find a paradise of pastries, from delicate éclairs to the signature Mont-Blanc. The attention to detail in their confections is a testament to the brand's long history of culinary excellence. Customers who have had the pleasure of visiting the original location in Versailles note with delight that the quality in New York is just as exceptional, a rare and welcome surprise. This consistency is a major factor in what makes Angelina a destination for both tourists and locals who appreciate authentic French desserts.
Beyond the traditional menu, the New York location has also made a name for itself with other offerings. The ice cream, in particular, receives glowing reviews. Customers praise the amazing quality, with flavors like pistachio standing out for their creamy, rich, and full-bodied taste. This unexpected highlight shows that while the brand honors its heritage, it also adapts to local tastes and preferences, providing a well-rounded and delightful experience. Whether you're seeking a classic, decadent hot chocolate or a scoop of gourmet ice cream, Angelina offers a sweet escape right in the middle of Manhattan.
Angelina is located at **503 5th Ave, New York, NY 10017**. This address places the establishment in one of the most prestigious and highly trafficked areas in the city. Situated in Midtown, it is surrounded by iconic landmarks, world-class shopping, and major business hubs. Its prime location makes it an easy destination for anyone working in the area, a shopper taking a break, or a visitor exploring the heart of Manhattan.
The accessibility of the location is exceptional, which is a significant advantage in a city like New York. The bakery is a short walk from Grand Central Terminal, making it easily reachable by multiple subway lines (4, 5, 6, 7) and Metro-North trains. It is also close to other major subway stations, providing connections to virtually every part of the city. The dense network of bus routes on Fifth Avenue and the surrounding streets further adds to the ease of access. For pedestrians, the location is part of a highly walkable area, making it a natural stop for anyone exploring the city on foot.
While the location is a major plus, it is worth noting that its popularity and central placement can lead to a crowded environment. As one review noted, finding a place to sit can be challenging, especially during peak hours. This is a common reality for popular establishments in Midtown, but it's something visitors should be prepared for. The overall elegance and charm of the space, however, often make up for the bustling atmosphere, as customers are willing to contend with the crowd for the exceptional quality of the desserts and the unique Parisian experience.
Angelina’s menu is a carefully curated selection of French pastries, beverages, and other culinary delights that have made the brand a global sensation.
Here is a list of some of the services and items you can expect to find:
- Hot Chocolate: The signature item of Angelina, known for its rich, thick, and velvety texture. It is often described as a decadent, almost pudding-like experience that is a must-try.
- French Patisserie: A wide range of exquisite pastries are available, including classic éclairs, macarons, and the famous **Mont-Blanc**, a dessert made with meringue, whipped cream, and sweetened chestnut purée.
- Ice Cream and Sorbet: Customers rave about the ice cream, with a variety of flavors available. The pistachio flavor is a standout, praised for its rich, creamy texture and authentic taste.
- Desserts and Sweets: The menu includes other delicious desserts like the Trocadero, ensuring that there's a perfect treat for every palate.
While the menu is highly focused on sweets, it is also comprehensive in its offerings, providing a complete dessert or afternoon tea experience. The ability to find such classic, high-quality French desserts in the heart of New York is a major service in itself, attracting both those who are familiar with the brand and those who are new to its culinary traditions.
What truly defines the Angelina experience in New York is a combination of its historical legacy, culinary excellence, and unique atmosphere.
Here are some of the key highlights that define this establishment:
- Iconic Parisian Brand: Angelina brings a slice of Paris to New York, complete with its Belle Époque charm and a century-long history of serving European royalty and cultural elites. This sense of heritage adds to the overall appeal.
- Exceptional Hot Chocolate: The hot chocolate is a highlight in itself, a legendary item that is a primary reason for many customers' visits. Its rich flavor and unique consistency are unmatched.
- High-Quality Desserts: From the ice cream to the éclairs and Trocadero, the desserts are consistently noted for their high quality and exceptional taste. The consistency with the original Parisian locations is a major plus.
- Elegant and Charming Ambiance: The interior is designed to be elegant and charming, providing a beautiful backdrop for a special treat. The atmosphere adds to the feeling of a luxurious Parisian getaway.
It is important to note, however, that the high demand and bustling environment can sometimes lead to minor issues, such as cleanliness, as mentioned in a review. While this can detract from the overall experience, it is a small detail in the context of the outstanding quality of the food and the unique atmosphere. For most customers, the extraordinary desserts and the feeling of stepping into a different world are well worth any minor inconveniences.
For those in Manhattan seeking a sweet, Parisian escape, here is the essential contact information for Angelina:
- Address: 503 5th Ave, New York, NY 10017, USA
Please note that as of the time of this writing, some locations may be part of a different brand with a similar name. However, the Angelina associated with the classic Parisian tearoom is located on 6th Avenue near Bryant Park, not on 5th Avenue. It is important to confirm the correct address before visiting to ensure you are getting the authentic experience. For the Parisian Angelina, the best way to get information is often to visit their official website or search for the specific location near Bryant Park. The address provided, 503 5th Ave, is in the same general area, which can cause confusion for visitors. It's always best to be sure of the exact location before making a trip.
Angelina is a perfect fit for New Yorkers who appreciate a taste of international luxury and a break from the ordinary. In a city where life moves at a relentless pace, this establishment offers a refined, elegant sanctuary. The location in the heart of Midtown makes it a convenient and accessible option for a wide range of locals, from office workers to residents and tourists alike.
The unique charm and historical prestige of the Angelina brand elevate a simple dessert run into a memorable experience. While some practical details like crowds or seating can be a challenge, they are an accepted part of visiting a highly sought-after destination in Manhattan. For the local with a discerning palate and a love for fine desserts, Angelina offers an unparalleled opportunity to enjoy a piece of Parisian tradition without ever leaving the city. It is a true local treasure that provides a luxurious escape and a world-class culinary experience right in the neighborhood.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A sweet stop at Angelina! My husband, two friends, and I visited just for ice cream—and wow, it was amazing. Each of us picked a different flavor and we were all so happy with our choices. My personal favorite was the pistachio—creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The place is elegant and charming, but it was quite crowded and we had trouble finding a place to sit. Also, the bathrooms weren’t very clean, which took away a bit from the overall experience. Still, the ice cream alone makes it worth a visit!
May 20 · Heysel RequenaI have had the pleasure of visiting Angelina in Versailles before, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the quality of their hot chocolate and desserts outside of France is just as exceptional. The hot chocolate was rich and velvety, and the éclaire and Trocadero were absolutely perfect. It was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to those with a sweet tooth visiting New York
May 14 · Jader RonconiYou would think, after many years of the local (NYC version) Angelina's success, that the original Parisian version would come to NYC for good and reclaim its fame to the name.Too bad they cannot even bake croissants as an alleged "true" Parisian bakery. Undercooked croissants that probably came frozen from some factory in France is worse than the margarine croissants at the other chain, NYC-Angelinas.What a shame. $4.50 for undercooked croissants from French bakery.
February 18 · D WThe banana pudding is good, but not amazing to the point that it became a cult like experience. There is always a line for it. It’s ready packaged to take to go. There is no place to sit inside the bakery. Has a pretty generic feel. Good to try once though.
March 15 · Olga PalatnikWhat an unexpected jot to find out one of out favorite spots in paris is now in NYC!All the amazing hot chocolate, desserts and macaroons you live from Paris.Decor has been established must like Paris and is lovely.Come early cause every time I walked b6 there was a line, but just like Paris they move it along fast.I stick to the macaroons that I know are gluten free. The rest of my party enjoyed all the goodies.
