Cheesetella Introduce
Welcome to the ultimate guide to Cheesetella in Buena Park, a destination bakery that has captured the attention of dessert enthusiasts across Southern California. Tucked inside the vibrant complex of The Source OC, Cheesetella offers a unique twist on popular East Asian desserts, primarily specializing in the incredibly fluffy Japanese-style cheesecake and the moist, rich Castella cake. If you’re a local to Orange County or just passing through the greater Los Angeles area and have a desire for a light, subtly sweet treat that’s different from your typical American dessert, Cheesetella is a must-visit location.
Cheesetella has built its reputation on crafting sweets with an unforgettable texture. Their cakes are famously 'jiggly'—an almost cloud-like consistency that is the hallmark of a high-quality Japanese soufflé cheesecake. Unlike the dense, rich, and often very sweet New York-style cheesecake, the Japanese version is known for its airy lightness and delicate flavor. At Cheesetella, they take this beloved style and infuse it with unique, modern flavors, offering everything from traditional recipes to unique creations like the Ube Cheesecake and specialty 'Cake in a Jar' desserts. Beyond their signature cakes, the bakery also provides a full menu of specialty coffee and artisanal teas, making it a perfect spot for an afternoon pick-me-up or a unique dessert for any occasion.
The bakery's aesthetic and focus lean into the modern, Korean-inspired bakery concept, which riffs on Japanese dessert traditions. This fusion results in visually stunning cakes with memorable colors, such as the distinct purple of their Ube cakes. While they may share shelf space with other well-known Japanese cheesecake chains in the region, Cheesetella prides itself on its texture, flavor innovation, and diverse menu offerings that appeal to those looking for a lighter, less intensely sweet dessert experience.

What is Worth Choosing
For the local Californian seeking a truly distinctive dessert experience, Cheesetella offers several compelling reasons to visit. The primary appeal lies in the texture and composition of their signature baked goods. If you’ve found traditional cheesecake too heavy or overly rich, the Japanese soufflé cheesecake here will provide a refreshing change. The light, airy, and 'melt-in-your-mouth' quality is a textural marvel that appeals to those who prefer a dessert that is subtly sweet and easy to enjoy without feeling weighed down.
For a first-time visitor, choosing one of their namesake products is highly recommended. The Cheesetella is a perfect introduction, showcasing the airy castella with a gooey, savory cheddar cheese center—a surprisingly harmonious blend of sweet and salty. Alternatively, the Original Japanese Soufflé Cheesecake is the quintessential classic, demonstrating the bakery’s mastery of the iconic 'jiggly' cotton-soft texture. The generous size of the full cakes also makes them excellent for sharing at gatherings or bringing a unique dessert to a potluck. One customer noted that a large piece of cheesecake can "easily share with 4 plus people," highlighting the value and substantial nature of the product, despite its airy texture.
Beyond the cakes, the innovative beverages are a key part of the experience. The combination of their fluffy cakes with a Vietnamese Condensed Milk Coffee (hot or iced) or an Artisanal Japanese Tea like the Genmaimatcha or Houjicha provides a balanced pairing that completes the dessert ritual. The commitment to unique flavors, such as the deep purple Ube and the aromatic Pistachio, ensures that there is always something new and exciting to try. In short, Cheesetella is worth choosing for its authentic Asian dessert experience, its mastery of the 'jiggly' texture, and its diverse menu that caters to a refined, lighter sweet tooth.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1YES!!! We got like 4 of the original cakes!!! Absolutely delicious 😋 I wish we had one of these in AZ!!!Best sweet snack ever!!!Takeout walk up order counter only. No dine-in. Outdoor seating available. ☀️
September 28 · Annabelle VeatchGot the cream filled cheese cake. A delicious desert and you get a huge peice for the price. Can easily share with 4 plus people:Not a complaint but it’s not necessarily what you expect when you think cheese cake though. It’s more like an extremely fluffy pound cake. Could however be a cultural /translation difference and I’m just not aware of what it should taste like🤣So as a dessert delicious, but probably won’t scratch your cheesecake itch.
July 11 · Daniel MarosI never had the chance to try the Creamtella at this location because they’re always out. I finally got one today, but it looked nothing like the photo on the menu. It was supposed to be a gift for a friend, but I decided not to give it after seeing how poorly it was presented. I’m glad I checked before handing it over. It's definitely not worth $11.
June 14 · Nevaeh AngelReally good. A little pricey. It was our first time trying Japanese cheesecake. It would be perfect if it has some fruit otherwise the flavor is very very mild. Definitely do not skip on the powdered sugar. I imagine it would taste like cardboard without powdered sugar to sweeten it up.
March 12 · Dustin MichieSuper yummy and fluffy! I had a cheese cake from a stand in lil Tokyo in LA. So when i saw this place i just had to try it. I'm so glad I did! It was even better then what I had before. The price for a cheesecake is not bad at all either. I wil be back for more of this yummy treat.
