Chelos Panaderia Introduce
For residents across Orange County, Chelos Panaderia in Huntington Beach represents a distinctive blend of traditional Mexican bakery artistry and an unexpectedly robust, authentic Mexican eatery. While many California locals seek out a dedicated
Panaderia
forpan dulce
and other freshly baked goods, Chelos has successfully expanded its offering to become a dual-threat establishment, providing both sweet and savory cravings under one roof. This bakery is not just known for its morning treats; it has recently garnered significant attention for its substantial and cost-effective selection of Mexican lunch and dinner items, including highly-praised tacos and burritos.Chelos Panaderia is a family-owned business that aims to combine the warmth of traditional baking with an inviting atmosphere. This commitment is reflected in the friendly and kind service that many customers highlight in their reviews. While the core of the business remains its bakery—which also extends into specializing as a Wedding bakery—the addition of a full-service food menu has broadened its appeal considerably. Customers can easily stop by for a quick visit to pick up a morning Breakfast Bagel or a cup of Coffee, or stay longer for a satisfying, authentic Mexican meal.
The diverse menu encompasses classic Mexican street food favorites, such as a full range of à la carte tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and tortas, featuring popular meat choices like Carne Asada, Al Pastor, and Carnitas. This successful fusion allows the bakery to cater to various needs throughout the day, whether patrons are looking for a simple sweet snack, a rich Tamal, or a full, flavor-packed meal. This comprehensive offering, combined with its reputation for friendly staff and good service, makes Chelos Panaderia a beloved and unique culinary staple in the Huntington Beach community.
However, it is worth noting that while the general sentiment toward the new food menu is highly positive, some longtime patrons who are specifically seeking traditional Mexican bread have noted differences in flavor and texture compared to other, more established Mexican bakeries in the region. This feedback underscores the fact that Chelos Panaderia is evolving into a comprehensive Mexican eatery, where the focus is distributed across both its baked goods and its expanded savory menu.

What is Worth Choosing
When visiting Chelos Panaderia in Huntington Beach, the best choices combine the shop's core identity as a Mexican bakery with its highly-praised, expanded food offerings.
For a complete and satisfying meal, the Savory Menu is highly recommended, especially the freshly added items that customers are raving about. You should prioritize the À La Carte - Tacos, which reviewers have found to be both delicious and cost-effective, particularly the Carne Asada or Al Pastor for a classic choice, and the Barbacoa for a richer, slow-cooked flavor. The Burrito Bowls also offer an excellent, filling, and customizable meal option, perfect for a hearty lunch or dinner.
For a traditional Mexican experience, the Tamales are a must-try. The Pork (Salsa Roja) and the sweet Tamal De Elote (Corn Tamal) offer a taste of authentic Mexican cuisine that is prepared in-house.
From the bakery side, while some reviews point out that the bread may not align with certain expectations for traditional
pan dulce
from other areas, the overall selection of baked goods, including oversized cookies and pastries, are the foundation of the business. You may also want to sample their baked Breakfast Bagels for a quick and substantial morning bite. Finally, to complement any order, choose one of the unique Mexican beverages. The Horchata Large and Limonada Con Chia Large are authentic and refreshing, offering a cultural alternative to standard sodas. For a hot drink, the Abvelita Chocolate 16 Oz or Mocolita 16 Oz provides a rich, traditional Mexican hot chocolate experience that perfectly pairs with any of their sweet baked goods. Chelos Panaderia offers a full-spectrum culinary choice, where the delicious, cost-effective savory options are arguably the biggest surprise and the most worthwhile choice for a first-time visitor.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The service is good here and the people are friendly.I myself would not buy bread from here again . I thought this was like the Chelo’s bakery in Santa Ana . I went to have some Tacos down the street and looked up bakeries near where I was . Found this one which had good reviews. However, I would not consider this authentic Mexican bread . This bread is very dry and not very flavorful. Not too sure what the dough is missing but of all the breads we bought they were all not very appetizing. I’m sorry although the people are very friendly I won’t be buying bread from this bakery anymore.
September 17 · AdelinaI lived in HB and have frequented this business. I know they started serving tacos. I tried them today and they were delicious! And cost effective. Please support this business!I have three stars for atmosphere as it is average. But nonetheless food and service amazing!
June 13 · Hyun Joo KimAmazing and best tasting bakery in HB, always fresh and delicious. Has everything you could want and there are additional options to include tasty tacos. Would recommend.
May 19 · Joe Murillothis place is amazing, went for bread and chomperado, decided to try these tasty tacos.best decision of the day. meat is tasty, salsas are on point. prices are great, very friendly staff.great place to satisfy your cravings.
June 12 · gary castanedaChelos Bakery Panderia is my absolute favorite Panderia, family owned and operated and a staple in the area! There are always trays of fresh baked items such as: filled pastries, Mexican pan dulces, sweet empanadas, bolillos, and and a variety of oversized cookies available; and trust me, you will leave with so many more than you expected to buy. I am always inclined to want to try them all, and at the prices they charge, you can! So yummy, and yet so affordable. They also recently added tacos to their menu, and if you are able to catch them on the right day, you will be so pleasantly surprised! It is worth buying a whole lot of them! If you want to pick up a breakfast burrito on the run, they have them ready to take I thw refrigerator section. I have never tried them, but I know they have offered the breakfast burritos for a while, so they must sell well. Please stop by this shopping center, as they have all of my favorite places to eat all in one place, which is rare!
