Fortune Bakery Introduce
Welcome to Fortune Bakery, a cherished institution bringing authentic Chinese baked goods to the heart of Brooklyn's Sunset Park. For New Yorkers, especially those seeking traditional flavors and a comforting taste of classic Chinese confectionery, Fortune Bakery offers a unique and genuine experience. We are proud to be a "throwback to an older Chinese bakery," meaning we focus on the time-honored recipes and traditional methods that many have grown to love, steering clear of overly trendy or fusion influences.
At Fortune Bakery, we understand the value of honest, unfussy, and delicious baked goods. Our philosophy is rooted in providing high-quality, old-fashioned treats that resonate with the palates of our diverse community. From savory delights like our classic roast pork buns to sweet indulgences such as our renowned walnut cookies, every item is crafted with care and a commitment to authentic flavor. We know that many New Yorkers, particularly those with an appreciation for traditional Asian desserts, often find modern bakeries "too sweet." This is where Fortune Bakery truly shines, offering cakes and pastries that are "more suitable to the Asian palate, overall not too sweet, cake is fluffy and delicate and fruits are fresh."
Our aim is to create a welcoming atmosphere that feels familiar and reliable, a place "still frequented by older locals," which speaks volumes about our enduring quality and community connection. While our service might sometimes be described as "abrupt," we view this as a characteristic of a busy, no-nonsense establishment focused on delivering excellent food efficiently. We are a place "for locals, and for serious foodies" who prioritize authentic taste and traditional craftsmanship. We invite you to step into Fortune Bakery and discover the true taste of classic Chinese baking, a taste that connects generations and offers a comforting piece of culinary heritage right here in Brooklyn.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1It's a throw back to an older Chinese bakery. Which means excellent old fashioned baked goods and none of that trendy Italian/French influenced stuff. Which is good, but not when you just want a good old fashioned roast Pork bun. Still frequented by older locals. Which is nice. Service can be abrupt, but this is a place for locals, and for serious foodies.
January 25 · janiceWalnut cookies are the best some of the best I've ever had. They've got limited selection on cakes (only vanilla flavored cake) and fruit filling that is either (taro, chestnut or fruit) but I really like their cakes. I've ordered from Paris Baguette and Tous Les Jours before but my parents found them to be too sweet. This place has cakes that are more suitable to the Asian palate, overall not too sweet, cake is fluffy and delicate and fruits are fresh.
May 09 · Henry LuoThe price and quality here cannot be beat.My family gets our white bread here!!! I also love their sponge cake-- fluffy, light and tasty. Just right for our palette. The owner of this bakery is so sweet and pleasant and I really appreciate that they keep their prices low especially as 8 Ave is getting increasingly expensive.
March 12 · Andrea Wonggreat! iced milk, tea and raisin bread loaf that my in-laws enjoyed. they ran out of discount buns after hours lol
May 13 · Michael ChengCake expensive 80$ for this .. their refrigerator is dirty and not cold enough so the fruits felt down . I only traveled about 4 Block away from the store .
