La Casita Bakeshop Introduce
When it comes to the Dallas-Fort Worth food scene, few names sparkle as brightly as La Casita Bakeshop. What started as a small wholesale operation by Maricsa Trejo and her husband, Alex Henderson, has blossomed into a culinary institution and a true point of pride for the Richardson community and the wider Texas region. More than just a bakery, La Casita is a destination for world-class pastries, innovative brunch, and a cozy cafe atmosphere where you can taste the passion and skill of a James Beard-nominated baker.
La Casita Bakeshop is not your average corner spot. The name, which means "little house" and is a nod to Maricsa Trejo's mother's custom of adding the diminutive "-ita" to words she found cute, perfectly captures the initial small scale and heartfelt dedication that launched the brand. Today, it’s a powerhouse serving over 175 restaurants and coffee shops across DFW—but it's at their flagship Richardson location where the full, creative genius of the team is on display for the public to enjoy. From the perfectly laminated French-style pastries that have earned national acclaim to a full-service brunch menu that incorporates bold, international, and Latina-rooted flavors, La Casita Bakeshop offers a unique and memorable experience. It’s an essential stop for any Texan with a love for high-quality coffee and exceptional food.
La Casita Bakeshop proudly identifies as a Latino-owned and women-owned small business, a heritage that frequently inspires the innovative, rotating monthly menus and signature creations. Their success has been recognized repeatedly on a national level, including multiple nominations for the prestigious James Beard Award, solidifying its reputation not just as a local gem, but as one of the very best bakeries in the entire country.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️La Casita Bakeshop is a true hidden gem in Richardson! We stopped by and tried two pastries — one traditional and one unique — and both were absolutely incredible. Flaky, buttery, and perfectly balanced in flavor. But the real showstopper was the Birria Brisket Croque Madame. For $19, you get birria-braised brisket and melty Oaxaca cheese between sourdough, topped with a rich Oaxaca mornay sauce, pickled red onions, a sunny-side-up egg, and a touch of salsa macha. It knocked my socks off — rich, flavorful, and worth every bite. We’re already planning our next visit to explore the rest of their breakfast menu. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!
July 26 · Davis PresleyThe bake shop is cute and has great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I ordered a hot vanilla latte, pesto Parmesan croissant and a peach cream pastry. Both were very delicious! Highly recommend!
July 26 · Raquel GutierrezExcellent bakery providing well-done unique flavor profiles. I ate in and was very happy with it all! I was able to get a table by walking in at opening time; might want to reserve if you come during peak times.
June 07 · Chad M. MartinAs soon you walk in you can just feel how positive the atmosphere here is and it’s just so welcoming. Service was 10/10, waitress was super nice and recommended me to order the chilaquiles. Food was BOMB! Husband ordered the Cuban and he loved it. My son ordered the classic burger ( it’s 2 meats) and he was stuffed and happy. Got some bakery items as well, almond croissant (10/10) Churro Cruffin (8/10) Banana muffin (9/10) Strawberry Guava pop tart (8/10) Overall, it was great!
March 16 · Butterfly 13Cute little coffee shop and bakery. The service is great and food is delicious, I ordered a hot chocolate with almond milk and the chilaquiles. The horchata needs improvement it was not really good, but aside from that everything was great, will definitely be back.
