June 15 · Tom KHeard good things about this spot and the bakery lived up to the hype! I tried the laminated baguette (10/10), ham and cheese pastry (8/10), and a cardamon bun (7/10).The laminated baguette is one of the most interesting and delicious baked goods I’ve tried in awhile. Perfectly crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside, and an indulgent yet light taste. The ham and cheese and cardamon bun were similar to the caliber of La Cabra (one of my other favorite bakeries). Will definitely return to sample more of their menu!
January 22 · Willa Zhanga great place for patisseries, we had the goat cheese blueberry denish and the pear denish - it was amazing 😍 highly recommend
July 16 · Avivit WeissmanSeriously, their laminated baguettes have been lingering in my head for months. I visit Alf Bakery again on a weekday afternoon and there was finally no line. I struggled between salted and seeded, and went for the latter.*Seeded Laminated BaguetteThey skillfully merge a baguette with a croissant crust. Their laminated baguette is expensive ($10.5) but it is also longer and thinner than a regular baguette (it will take me 5 days to finish it). The texture is also very different as the inside is very soft and fluffy. I could easily tear it apart with bare hands. The outer laminated layer is sprinkled with everything seasonings. Flaky and flavorful. Not too salty or oily.I asked them to cut it in half for me, so I could eat some when it was fresh. Till afternoon they were still baking baguettes and refilling the shelves with fresher ones.*Fig TwistVery pricey (~$9) for a small piece of pastry but it was well worth it! The fig was sweet and fresh. The danish was crunchy, filled up with sweet pudding-y custard. I assume all their croissant-type pastries are fantastic and I can’t wait to go back for more.*Cranberry Raisin BreadThe bread was on the denser side, padded with tart and sweet cranberries and raisins.*Baguette de traditionLike their laminated baguettes, the traditional baguette was also crispy on the outside while fluffy on the inside. It had nice big air pockets and a crunchy crust.*Rosemary FoccaciaThe focaccia was just average imo. It was good but I wouldn’t repurchase. Texture-wise, it was spongey with bubbly outer crust. It lacked the depth of flavor and was not as aromatic as I expected.
May 13 · Ruby ChanWe fell in love with the laminated croissant here. It is a wonder of the culinary world. Every time we are in Manhattan my mom or I will have to get one to bring home. The croissant was excellent too.
