★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Amazing and quiet place for meeting friends or working. They are super friendly and sweet, they have good dessert options, and of course, they have sandwiches. Highly recommend it----EDIT: This review is recent after the reopening/ new management.----I used to love this place for its coffee, sandwiches, and early hours. This isn't the same anymore. I visited twice in November and now in May, and they still don't have any espresso drinks. I thought this might be temporary in November, but it seems not. They only have a drip coffee that is mostly cold. The pastries are also limited and are no longer the same delicious treats, and most of the trays are empty. It is difficult to make plans for breakfast or invite others for food as the kitchen is not available until noon. It isn't even announced or written; you know when you are inside. The only thing that was the same was the friendly hosts. They are always nice and welcoming.I wish them luck, but I don't think it will be an option for me anymore.
April 20 · Joe QI recently saw that Chroma reopened under new management and messaged them on Facebook to ask if they could make me a double order of challah and they definitely exceeded my expectations. The loaves they prepared were giant, fluffy, golden, and delicious. My family agreed they were 10/10. And at only $5 each... way cheaper than the grocery store for that amount of bread and much higher quality. When I stopped by to pick up my order it was a cold and snowy day in November and I decided to try their eggplant parmesan sandwich. It was also delicious. The bread, which seemingly had just come out of the oven, elevated the sandwich to another level. I washed it down with one of those peach Japanese sodas that they have there. The bakery itself has such a warm, inviting atmosphere and smells really nice, and you can look out the front windows at the historic courthouse... which I did.The last thing I'll say is that the person who helped me when I came in to pick up the order was extremely helpful, I forget their name but they told me that if there was anything that they could improve with their bread that I should just tell them and they would let the baker know to incorporate it next time. The only thing I would also like to mention is that parking can be a little difficult to find unless you know where to look. There's a great parking garage on Washington Street that is pretty cheap, it's like a dollar on the weekdays. If you park there you get a nice walk through the historic downtown which takes about 5 minutes but it's worth it. Otherwise there is parking nearby on the street that is metered, I think it's 85 cents for an hour or something like that.So glad this place is back open again!
November 23 · Joshua WitterI was very disappointed with my breakfast this morning. I was told the kitchen was closed, so I ordered a cinnamon roll from behind a display. Being this is a bakery I expected a fresh, moist roll. What i got was dry as sand paper. My two-star rating overall and four star service rating is due to the young lady behind the counter, the only employee in the place at the time.
April 24 · Craig HawkinsCute and friendly cafe, super convenient and really good food. Nice blend of old fashioned decor and modern attention to detail. Definitely worth a visit!
November 18 · Leo MacdonaldLoved my breakfast so much. I understand that this bakery is in the heart of college town, so the prices are a little steep for this mom of 7. Today, I treated myself! At first, I was like this looks healthy... not sure if it would taste good. Well! It was amazing. Made me save my second year, their baked French toast for later. So good and tasty. Friendly staff and not overwhelming with choices. Just right. Highly recommend for that special for just you moment!!! Yumm!
