For residents and visitors of the Narberth area and the greater Philadelphia region, finding an authentic, high-quality French-inspired pastry shop can elevate a simple morning coffee or a special dessert. The Little Blue Owl Baking Company has quickly established itself as a beloved local gem, captivating food lovers with its dedication to artisanal techniques and premium ingredients.
This isn't just any bakery; it is a specialized pastry shop focusing on creating exquisite French treats, known in the industry as a 'patisserie'. Founded by a husband-and-wife duo, Andrew and Angela, who honed their skills at the Culinary Institute of America and spent years working under notable chefs in New York City, The Little Blue Owl Baking Company brings a wealth of professional experience and passion to the Main Line. They blend traditional French baking methods with subtle American and Asian influences, creating a unique and delicious product that has earned them a loyal following.
They are particularly renowned for their mastery of viennoiserie—the category of baked goods made from a yeast-leavened laminated dough, which includes staples like croissants and pain au chocolat. Customers frequently praise the bakery's signature croissants, often cited as some of the finest available in the Philadelphia area. This reputation is built on the pursuit of the perfect pastry: flaky, buttery layers made with meticulous attention to detail and high-quality ingredients, like 82% butter. The owners pride themselves on making everything from scratch in-house, baking their viennoiserie fresh every morning to ensure the highest quality for every customer.
While they honor French tradition, the chefs' diverse background provides the freedom for innovation. They focus on creating well-rounded, interesting flavors, ensuring their pastries are not simply "overly sweet" but rather balanced and sophisticated. This thoughtful approach to flavor and technique is what truly sets The Little Blue Owl Baking Company apart.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place used to have the best croissants anywhere in the area. I haven't been in a while and recently decided to give it a try. I ordered the chocolate croissant. Still made on the premises, and still pretty good, although not as good as back when I used to feel like this place was a time/space portal that took me to Paris. Now, the croissant is well layered and puffy, but lacking that crisp, almost-burnt outer layer that separates real French pastry from the stuff that's designed to please Americans. This is now leaning toward the Americans. No deep caramelized flakey surface. Sad. I also think a good croissant showcases the flavor of quality butter...this croissant was rich, but not much distinct creamy butter flavor...no grassy, sour notes. Finally, I found the chocolate average, too. I was hoping for a dark cherry almost wine-like bittersweet chocolate flavor. Instead, this tasted like good chocolate, but not exceptional chocolate. Still, it would be hard to find a better chocolate croissant in the Philly area.
August 15 · Jordan ShapiroDon’t believe the negative reviews here about this little French gem! For example, someone complained the pear tart was bland! Oh please 🙄 It was delicious and as you know pear is a subtle tasting fruit! Amazing bakery with excellent eclairs, cakes, pastries! I loved the madeleines, fruit tarts and one of the best croissants I have ever tasted in my life. BRIGITTE the employee deserves all the recognition! Seen her during busy times , slow times and she never fails to help, smile and quick to answer your questions! You can see her smile in her eyes even with a mask! Friendly and professional! Thank you! Will definitely visit again even with my four hour drive to this bakery 🤣
January 14 · Rajeev ThomasThis little spot is great, they have many pastries to choose from as well as coffee. I got the eclair & a little chocolate layered cake called ‘opera’ & both were delicious! The eclair was so fresh and light tasting with a good amount of filling. Their coffee is not the best but ok to grab along with your snack!
May 22 · Mia RodriguezBeautiful little patisserie with amazing croissants, pastries, cinnamon rolls and more. Must visit if you're in the area. Go there nice and early cause they run out of fresh baked goodies pretty quick. The staff here is super friendly and nice.
July 09 · Rewant LokeshExcellent croissants. Fresh, flaky, super good. Éclairs are amazing as well. Some of the customers are a bit snotty, guess that's Narberth... but the staff are really nice!
